I have seen patients lose 50 pounds and feel terrible. I have also seen patients lose 50 pounds and feel like they've aged backwards by a decade or more.

The scale might show the exact same number for both patients. But medically, they are in two completely different states. The first patient "shrank" by starvation. They lost fat, sure, but they also lost muscle, bone density, and slowed their metabolic rate. Their body is in a panic. They are tired, cold and white-knuckling it through the day.

The second patient didn't just shrink, they optimized.🌟 They used fasting to signal safety and cellular repair, not to starve. They fueled their body. They prioritized protein.

The result? They lost the fat, and they gained capacity. They have better energy at 4pm. They think more clearly. They sleep throughout the night. They aren't fighting their own biology. They inspire others.

In my practice, we celebrate weight loss, but only when it's a side effect of metabolic healing. If you are focused on a number this week, make sure you aren't sacrificing your engine, your muscles or your bones to get there. The goal isn't just to lose weight. The goal is to be effective, to lose weight as a side effect of metabolic improvement.
